New in Sharetribe 🎉 Add a search bar to your content pages
A beautiful search bar with different search fields helps customers find what they need immediately.
The picture says it all: You can now add a search bar with multiple options to your home page (or any content page). Without coding.
What do you want customers to do after arriving in your marketplace? Often, the answer is: start searching for listings. Now, you can make search a more visible part of your user experience, with the search fields your marketplace needs.
This feature comes highly requested, so read on to learn more!
Add a search bar to your homepage
The search bar can be enabled in Pages. You can add it on any page, but we’ll use the landing page as an example.
- Go to your landing page settings in Pages.
- Open the hero section (or any other section where you want to add a search bar).
- Scroll down to Section call to action and choose Search as the call to action type.
- Choose the search fields that make sense for your marketplace: category, keywords, location, dates.
- Save changes.
You can enable the search CTA for any section on any page. Your homepage is the most obvious choice, but it can also work…
- at the end of blog posts to encourage readers to start searching
- as a CTA for alternative landing pages.
You can even add multiple search bars on the same page. For example, you could add one search bar at the top of your landing page and another at the very end. This way, people who scroll all the way down can start searching without scrolling back up.
Hide top bar search
If you choose to enable the new search CTA on your landing page, having a search in your top bar can be a bit redundant. That’s why you can hide the top bar search on the landing page.
Go to your top bar settings, scroll down to Search bar and choose “Don’t display on the landing page”. And save.
Unlike the new multi-option search bar, the top bar search always has just one search type: location or keyword search. If you want customers to use multi-option search as much as possible, choose to the option "Only display on the search page" for the top bar search.
Update marketplace texts
This release introduces new marketplace texts. Copy the new texts from our Help Center and paste them into your marketplace text editor.
With the multi-option search bar, your customers will see the option to search first thing when they land on your marketplace—and start their journey with a lot more search options. Search is also a great, interactive way to communicate the value your marketplace offers.
