About Sharetribe

Sharetribe makes the best marketplace software solution in the world. Our mission is to democratize platform ownership by making it possible for anyone to build a successful marketplace business.

Our product combines the best of no-code and custom development: we help founders launch their marketplace ideas quickly without coding, add unique features through custom development, and run and grow their business on a reliable foundation.

We’ve been around since 2011 and profitable since 2021. We’re a team of 21 people from 11 different nationalities. While our comfy home office is in downtown Helsinki, after the initial onboarding period, you can also work partly remotely, to be agreed after you start. We don’t offer relocation support for this position.

As a part of our team, you’ll have a real impact. Marketplaces powered by our software are used by millions of people in more than 100 countries. The majority of our 1,500+ customers are solo founders or small teams building platforms that make better use of existing resources through reselling, rentals, and services. Our steward-owned company structure ensures that Sharetribe will always be controlled solely by its working team, with one-person-one-vote governance. We're fully funded by the revenue from our customers and plan to keep it that way.

We value integrity, candor, kindness, purpose before profit, and balance. At Sharetribe, you won’t have to sacrifice your well-being to make a real difference in the world; you can have both.

About the job

We’re looking for an experienced Content & SEO professional to help grow our organic traffic, transition our content library to meet the demands of AI-driven search, and support a repositioned go-to-market strategy. The contract is fixed-term for at least 12 months (with the possibility of extension determined closer to the end of the term), and coincides with our Head of Content's parental leave. We hope you can start as soon as possible.

Your focus will be on the area where Sharetribe can’t afford to lose momentum: our inbound function, fueled by high-quality content production and top-of-the-funnel SEO and AEO. Content has been the cornerstone of Sharetribe’s marketing for a decade, so you’ll step into a mature operation whose value is understood by the entire team.

As the fourth member of a small, flat marketing team, you'll work closely with our CMO, Sjoerd, and Product Marketing Manager, Katri (as well as with a small group of freelancers who have been a part of our extended team for years). You’ll take ownership of the content strategy and execute it with great autonomy—though your colleagues will always be happy to brainstorm ideas or review your article drafts. You’ll join a team that shares your high standards for content quality and supports you in living up to them in a way that maintains work-life balance.

The position is ideal for a mid- to senior-level professional with demonstrable experience owning content and SEO projects end-to-end and producing content that gets discovered. We also highly value a generalist mindset and a willingness to broaden your scope, and want to offer you an opportunity to grow.

Here’s what your work will look like at Sharetribe:

  • Write new content targeting high-value keywords and topic clusters: Articles, guides, and landing pages.
  • Work with our analytics and SEO tools: Track performance, identify underperforming pages and clusters, and improve them with clear reasoning.
  • Stay current on AI-era SEO: Keep up with emerging AEO best practices and changing search behavior, and apply relevant updates to our content strategy.
  • Define content priorities and strategy: Collaborate with the CMO on strategy, then execute with significant autonomy.
  • Work with our marketing tech stack: Publish content in our CMS (Prismic). If interested, you might also work more deeply on our marketing tech and automations with the help of Claude Code and our marketing developer.

Depending on the evolution of our marketing, you might expand into areas such as:

  • Supporting a new outbound activity targeting existing marketplace operators.
  • Upscaling content production and other marketing efforts with the use of  AI (all while maintaining our existing level of quality).
  • Other marketing initiatives as priorities shift—a generalist mindset in a fast-changing environment is an asset.

About you

Sharetribe is a co-led organization with a flat hierarchy and no people managers—most of us work as highly skilled individual contributors. That means great autonomy and flexibility, but also great responsibility for managing your time and priorities.

As this is a fixed-term contract and coincides with the parental leave of our Head of Content, high autonomy and the ability to get up to speed quickly are even more important. You’ll have the full support of your colleagues in getting onboarded.

Here are the skills and qualities you need to be successful and enjoy working as a Content & SEO Specialist at Sharetribe:

  • Strong English writing skills (native or near-native). You write in a clear, direct, human tone. You know how to write well for the web without making it feel like SEO content. Finnish or Swedish skills aren’t required.
  • Content marketing and SEO experience (mid to senior). You have at least 3–5 years of experience in a similar role and can demonstrate results from planning and executing effective content marketing campaigns for organic distribution (on-page optimization, content refreshing, keyword and content cluster strategy).
  • Good analytical skills and logical thinking. Marketing tracking, spreadsheets, and CSV files are no strangers to you. You’re able to compare metrics from different sources and argue for the best interpretation when data is murky. You find ambiguity interesting rather than uncomfortable, and you’re honest about what you don’t know.
  • Understanding of digital marketing and SaaS marketing fundamentals. You understand concepts such as funnels, conversion, retention, LTV, and CAC.
  • Generalist mindset: You’re comfortable shifting priorities and learning new areas as the marketing needs evolve.
  • Flexible and self-managed working style. You can take responsibility for managing your time, focus, and prioritization in a flexible, self-directed work environment.
  • High standards for content quality. You care about content and writing quality, not just output volume. You know when it’s the right call to spend that extra hour fine-tuning and when it’s more important to just ship.
  • Curiosity about AI. You're interested in learning how to make AI work for you without sacrificing the quality of your work and thinking.
  • Alignment with our values. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities. There’s one area where alignment is important: our core values. If they resonate strongly with you, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll be even more impressed if you come to us with:

  • A background in SaaS, developer tools, or marketplace/platform products.
  • Experience working with content operations within a small team (owning the entire pipeline from planning to execution to tracking, making data-informed decisions on imperfect data, working closely together with other marketing functions).
  • Experience with AI-assisted writing and SEO workflows.
  • Entry-level familiarity with the most common coding languages and data formats (think HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSON, etc).
  • Some exposure to outbound or lifecycle marketing.

Perks and compensation

The salary for this role is between €4,000 and €5,000 per month depending on your experience. Our salaries are fully transparent within the team. Every Sharetribe team member knows what everyone else is making.

In addition to giving you the chance to make a positive impact in the world in a balanced way, we’ve designed a set of perks to help you enjoy life on and off the clock.

  • 10 extra paid days off when you join, in addition to the holidays you accrue under Finnish legislation.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Remote-friendly setup (after the initial onboarding, you can be remote part of the time).*
  • Generous health care package (including e.g. an annual dental care budget, short-term psychotherapy, and gynecologist appointments without referral).
  • (Home) office setup & device budget.
  • Learning budget.
  • Lunch benefit.
  • Public transportation benefit.
  • Team evenings, company cottage trips, and get-togethers.
  • A small, senior team where your work is visible and actually matters, and where you can have an impact beyond your strict role description.
  • A collaborative, supportive, and caring work culture.
  • Steward-owned company structure: Sharetribe’s mission and the working team's 100% control are legally protected.

Hiring process for this role

We want to offer you an informative and psychologically safe applicant experience. During the application process, you’ll have a chance to meet four to five Sharetribe members, including but not limited to the colleagues you’ll work with the most.

Here’s how the application process works:

  1. Submit your application and resume. We’ll review your application and select a number of candidates for the first steps of the process.
  2. First interview. Meet Sjoerd, Sharetribe’s CMO, and Mira, Head of Content. We’ll talk more about your experience and skills and what the role entails.
  3. Exercise. Candidates selected after the first interview round will be asked to complete a short exercise (~2 hours) where you can get a feel for the type of SEO analysis and content work you’d spend a lot of your time doing.
  4. Exercise review & values interview. Meet Sjoerd, Katri (Product Marketing Manager), and Juho (CEO). We’ll briefly discuss your exercise, then move on to discussing your expectations for the company, team, and role, as well as Sharetribe’s values and culture.
  5. Job offer. Welcome to Sharetribe! We’ll send you a formal job offer, and once you accept, the onboarding process begins with completing the necessary paperwork, ordering your work equipment, and agreeing on the schedule for welcoming you to the team.

We’ll filter candidates at each step.

The start date is somewhat flexible, but in an ideal world, you could start June 22nd.
