Update locale of unloggedin user based on IP address

Hi,

I remembered in hosted version of sharetribe we had this behavior whereby if the user is not logged in, the system automatically checks his IP and update the locale based on that. Can somebody tell me the source of that code in the current code base? Is it still there?

Hey there!

Right now there isn’t such feature in Sharetribe Go. Maybe this is something you had built with your own custom script?

If you build such feature, don’t hesitate to share your approach here afterwards, that might be useful to others!

I’m also looking for this type of functionality for my marketplace. If anyone would be willing to share such a script or tips on how it is done, would be much appreciated. Cheers :blush:

Bumped. Just checking in to see if the ST team has implemented this feature yet.
Our team looked at this and it seems we can use a 3rd party service such as IPSTACK.

If ST team has any new development pls let us know.

Unfortunately this is not something that we have added to Go and this is not something we are working on right now.

Good to hear that you have some hints already about ways to achieve what you’re looking for. If you manage to build it, I hope you’ll share it back with the community!
