Changing default text editor?

Just wondering about the text editor that comes with Sharetribe to edit the About/Info pages. It seems a bit difficult to use for us.

  1. What is the name of this editor?
  2. Is there a reason you still keep this editor over more modern ones?
  3. We are thinking of replacing it by CKEditor. Any opinion about this?
  4. Any warnings or tips coding-wise when implementing a new editor for the entire system?

Thanks for your opinion!

Hi there!

Good idea to consider another one. What is the main reason? Did you face any issue even with the HTML editing?

  1. It’s named Mercury Editor.
  2. We’ve decided to work on other things that we think have brought more value. In the end, it’s always a decision about priorities and resources. It would be great to use a more recent alternative, it just didn’t make the top of our list so far.
  3. and 4. No opinion or tips at this point.

Keep us posted!

Thanks @thomasmalbaux!

In more details, we want to add a blog to the site using the current site infrastructure, and the current editor cannot add/edit article titles and topics.

for a blog, I would recommend just to make links with an separate site, powered by some blogging platform, like wordpress on shared hosting, so then it could be easier to simply adjust blog css styles to match your marketplace.
and then you just don’t have to reimplement standard blog features on top of sharetribe platform, but can focus on core distinctive feature of your marketplace.

Thanks for your advice @zenik
We need to build a multi-lingual blog and so the ability edit fields and filters of ST is a good starting point for us. Also development cost is not too much of a concern in developing market.
