Upgrade to v11.0.0

Hi,

I have been using Sharetribe and my latest version was 10.0.00

But Facebook disabled my Facebook login and I decided to upgrade to the latest version 11.0.00

I was able to update up to version 10.3.0 and that is where I am stuck.

Because I am using Ubuntu 18.0.4 and I thin to upgrade to v11.0.0 I need Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Can someone help me out and give advice?

  1. Do I need to switch to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS since version 18.0.4 is not compatible with Node 18.16 or I can use lower version of Node and change number in lock file?

  2. How to migrate to Redis?

Maybe someone has procedure written on this upgrade? I am sure it would save a lot of people a lot of headaches.

For now I am using v10.3.0 on Ubuntu 18.0.4

Another thing I never figured how to setup my own email, therefore I am using gmail for sending mail.

Do I need to purchase separate email plan from hosting to be stable?

We just set up a new instance of the server on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Then we saved the MySql database using mysqldump. We then restored the database to the new server and we were good to go.

Of course we also moved the SSL certificate files from the old server to the new server and updated our DNS to point to the new address. You also have to migrate the new DB changes to the database you put on your new server before you start the application.

We are not using Redis.

You should use mailgun for your mail.

I just did perfect upgrade from version 10.0.0 to version 10.3.0 and stopped… scared to break something that works. Later I will work on upgrading to v11.0.0
