ShareTribe Go available source latest version

Hi,

I am working with a developer to setup our own instance of ShareTribe Go using the available source at https://github.com/sharetribe/sharetribe.

The instructions there ask you to checkout from latest git checkout latest. The latest release was May 10th (v10.0.0), which is far behind what’s on the master branch.

Why is this the case? Any idea when a more recent version will be released? Is it discouraged to use the master branch to install and customize the community version?

Thanks.

Hi there!

We don’t have a clear schedule when to make a new release but usually, I make one when major/significant work has been finished, to avoid having things in progress, or when there’s an important technical update.

A release contains code that we consider stable and tested enough.

Since v10.0.0, we have worked on a new Admin panel and other features. They are working nicely but are still being polished, which is why I haven’t made a new release yet.

That said, the master branch is definitely something you can use. This is what the hosted version runs and it works. It usually contains some code of work in progress but I think it’s safe, in most cases, to use the master branch, if you want to enjoy all the most recent things.

Hopefully this clarifies things.

Thanks for the reply, @thomasmalbaux. That was very helpful. I’m going to give the master branch a try.
