Photos that are captured vertically on a smartphone rotates clockwise when eventually uploading them to a listing, has anyone else noticed this? Are there any solutions for this?
We are using the hosted version of Sharetribe Go, and we have also tried this on another Sharetribe Go marketplace and the same thing happens, so all Sharetribe Go marketplaces seem to be affected by this bug.
Also, when a photo is captured horizontally the smartphone must be held anti clockwise, if held clockwise the photo will rotate when uploaded.
This really needs to be fixed…
I have tried uploading listing photos with the following smartphone models:
iPhone XS
iPhone 6S Plus
iPhone 11 Pro Max
Samsung Galaxy S20

This situation has been reported already indeed, and we’re investigating. Go actually works as expected but the latest version of Chrome (81) has introduced its own rotation of images and that leads to some double compensation. The internet is actually quite full of similar reports happening on various websites, and this is not necessarily a trivial thing to get right anymore, as more parties get involved into rotating images.
We’ll continue to investigate that situation and hopefully figure out a solution. Thanks for your help!
