How many users can Sharetribe Go open source handle?

I’m curious, what is the maximum number of users I can have on the Sharetribe Go open source platform?

Hey Ellen, thanks for the question!

Well, the software can support hundreds of thousands of users but it of course all depends on your infrastructure.

For the hosted version of Sharetribe Go that we provide, we use the same code as the one available on the public repository and we have hundreds of thousands of members in dozens of thousands of marketplaces, and this works smoothly. Still, we have quite a strong infrastructure for that.

With something light, you can easily host thousands of users but again, you’ll have to monitor and design your infrastructure as you grow.

What kind of numbers do you have in mind for your marketplace business? Have you already started to grow or are you considering this question for the future?

Thank you for the response, it was helpful. I’m looking to start a marketplace that can handle over 100,000 users. I’m still thinking about the design, but wanted to know if this was possible.

Sounds good!

One more information, though. For any new marketplace idea, especially if you already have some certainty about your future scale, I would highly recommend to first get started with Sharetribe Flex.

Flex has been designed to scale, way better than Go for which you will reach its limit rather quickly. Give it a look and try at https://www.sharetribe.com/products/flex/!
