The idea of Aozora was born from a simple observation: looking for info on a boogie, we realized everything is spread somewhere in between Facebook or more or less up-to-date websites, when not almost buried in the depth of some forum thread. Anyway, it’s just a pain to find what you are looking for, and it takes hours. Looking deeper into the idea, we realized that not only for boogies could things be improved: but getting more efficient classifieds, centralizing information on drop zones & wind-tunnels, knowing more about any event from local easy-going fun weekends to big way record attempts, etc.
After a few beers, we saw how new relationships between fun jumpers & pros could grow, helping students to get closer to coaches, jumpers to DZs, instructors to clients or employers. A lot more beers later, we were dreaming of a dedicated social network!
Recovering from the hangover, we realized two things:
- skydiving is a tiny market, so no big web company will launch Facebook for skydivers
- the industry stakeholders are already very busy, so someone else has to take care of it.
We chose to have a start-up approach, to be able to test ideas without spending too much money —like many of us, we pour money down the plane— and we started working!
Actually, we are convinced that a good product is a product the closest possible to its users. So let’s just start now, at the very beginning! Thanks to this page, we hope we will know you better, understand you better, and get you involved in the future evolutions of the service. For Aozora to be as spontaneous as a boarding check, so that there will always be more skydives, more tunnel and more fun.
