We’re curious about your Go open-source hosting costs.
We are regularly in touch with customers who are comparing Sharetribe Go open source with the hosted version and/or Sharetribe Flex. We would like to provide them with as much information as we can so they can make an informed decision about the costs.
We have of course @mooreds’s excellent blogpost, but what about your own experience? Would you share what you are paying on a monthly basis for hosting your Sharetribe Go installation?
If you prefer, feel free to share the info in a private message. We’ll share an average of that, so this will be confidently treated.
And if you have tips on how you’ve been able to reduce your costs, don’t hesitate to share, it will likely be helpful to others.
Compared to this blogpost we are running on a very low level so far. We don’t need so many elements because we just started the first tests with our MVP.
So, we did the switch to the OS version (we were not happy due to dependence to the developer, so we are back on track with hosted) and paid 450 for setting up the whole thing on Digital Ocean.
We have been using Send grid (for free at this level) - by the way - we were not happy with the free account using different IP addresses because our domain got blacklisted.
So far we paid only 20 /month for Digital Ocean.

I’m sorry to hear that things didn’t go too smoothly with your developer partner. A few people have been recommended in that forum so don’t hesitate to contact them if you plan to move to OS version again in the future
And indeed emailing is quite challenging. Without some maintenance and dedicated services (which has a cost), it can happen rather quickly to be blacklisted :’( Definitely something that isn’t so obvious when planning.
Just to clarify, are the amounts you’ve shared in USD?
